Exhibition Roster 2010 (MS Excel file) UPDATED 27th JULYThe Commercial Swimming Club's Fast Food Outlet and Diner at the RNA's Brisbane Exhibition (EKKA) http://www.ekka.com.au/ each August, is the only fund raising event run by the club for the year. Funds raised here go towards supporting our many swimmers at club nights, competing at various local and interstate swim meets, and at national and age championships. This one fund raising activity ensures that our members are not required to sell weekly raffle tickets in meat trays and the link at pubs and clubs etc.
The Fast Food Outlet and Diner are staffed by club volunteers for the full 10 days of the EKKA. It is hard work at times, but fun mixing with swimmers, coaches, young, up and coming stars, "parents of swimmers", committee and club officials and some foundation supporters and members.
This fund raising effort continues a tradition that was originally started by the Ladies Commercial Swimming Club back around 1915 with a modest stall providing eats and refreshment to the then "Exhibition" patrons. Today the Fast Food Outlet and Diner provides a variety of 'eat in' meals or 'take aways' to EKKA patrons.
All club members and parents are urged to support this activity where possible, and remember, it is the only fund raising event run by the club each year. The more help we get from swimmers and parents over this period the easier it is all round. As the saying goes – “Many hands make light work”. The 2009 contribution from members was fantastic. We look forward to a good response for EKKA 2010.
