Long Course Report

17 October 2007

Our first Club Night for 2007 was held in the newly refurbished Valley Pool last Night. We had a fantastic roll up, with lots of new members and lots of returning members this season. Peter Crane has done a great job in getting the results completed in record time, and the swimmers times can be found by clicking the link below.

As usual Keith cooked up a storm on the BBQ, and our marshallers, timekeepers and other assistants carried out their duties in fine style.

Well done to all the swimmers, and we will see you all at our next club night on October 30th.

Last weekend three of the clubs members competed in the Dolphin Classic, a surf lifesaving event held by Northcliffe Surf Lifesaving Club.

Consisting of endurance based, single discipline events, the Dolphin Classic is rated highly on the season's competion calender.

Ann Glen began the day off placing first in the 10km board paddle beore backing up to swim the 1km ocean swim. Kate Glen and Indigo Sussmilch followed Ann, competing in the U17 1km swim race. All three girls faced similar conditions, the choppy surf and slight sweep not fazing any of them.

Anne put it to the boys of her age group, finishing just behind them to place first in U14. A consistent swim and great surf skills saw Kate finishing fourth with Indigo placing first in the U17 girls

EKKA 2007 - Done and Dusted for another year !!!

Congratulations on a job well done!!!!

Secondly, a BIG THANKYOU to all members that helped at EKKA 2007 from me and the committee at  Commercial Swimming Club.

EKKA 2007 was a success.  Successful in the amount of money we made, seeing new members mixing with current members and the fun atmosphere that was created by all the volunteers who put in their time to help the club.

Well done to all.

This was my first year manning the food stall and it was pleasing to see new members being welcomed by past current members who showed them how it was all done.  It was also pleasing to see junior members of CSC being involved. I was also fortunate to receive comments from a number of customers who were impressed with the quality of food served and the manner in which their food was served.  I duly passed these comments onto our chefs and the team of staff preparing and serving.  We definitely made sure that CSC was the place to eat.

A big thank you, especially to, Keith Kydd, Peter Crane, George Anderson, Margaret Squires, Trent Patten and John Hogan, who spent a considerable amount of time during the 10 days at the EKKA, opening up, preparing and serving food, cleaning up etc.  The list of jobs that they undertook are too numerous to list.  Once again, thank you for the time and effort you all put in. I am keen to hear your thoughts on helping out at EKKA 2007.  I am interested to hear positive points and any feedback on areas that we can improve.  So please feel free to email me or phone me on my mobile.  Any comments, big, small, good, bad, they're all welcome.  I will pass on your comments at our next committee meeting (Monday 27th August).  Your comments will help make EKKA 2008 an even bigger success.

I look forward to sending you an email on the final wash up on EKKA 2007.

Regards
