Hello David,
Just a quick note to express our gratitude for the valuable assistance from members of Commercial Swim Club last Saturday at our swim meet. It is always difficult to get volunteers to help timekeeping, and there were a number of Trent’s squad who stayed and manned stopwatches for the first two hours, and a group stayed on one lane for the whole of the main swim meet. They were prominent in their Commercial T-shirts, and their efforts, and those of the adults who attended for part or all of the day, were very much appreciated by all in our club. It was impossible to get around and thank them individually, so please pass on to them our grateful thanks.
The day was a huge success, with 186 competitors, all of whom seemed to enjoy the occasion.
Kind regards,
Richard Sargent

Jessicah Schipper World Championships got even better. Jess swimming in the 4x100m Medley Relay swam superbly helping the team win a Silver Medal. Jess swimming the Butterfly leg recorded the fastest split time for the Butterfly of the entire field shows what an wonderful swimmer we have. Congratulations Jess well done.
Christian Sprenger swimming Breaststroke in the 4x100m Medley Relay in the heats did an excellent job in qualifying the team into lane 5 for the Finals. Christian cheared from the stands to see his team mates plus Brenton Rickard (world Record holder for the 100m Breaststroke) take out the Bronze Medal in the Final. Well done Christian you did us all proud.
The World Championships draw to a close and the swimmers now fly to Hobart to compete in the Australian Short Course Championships before returning home. Chris Wright along with his team mates on return from Hobart will line up to the Commercial Stall at the RNA to assist in our fundraising venture. Great stuff let’s all get in a lend a hand.
Christian Sprenger shows true grit to win Bronze in the Men’s 200m Breaststroke. In one of the tightest finishes of the Championships Christian was touched out on the wall by 0.16 of a second for the Gold Medal. Due to pressure of the Final all swimmers could not better Christian’s World Record he broke yesterday. Congratulations Christian on his first World Championship Medal. An astonishing effort we are all very touch by.
Sophie Edington swimming in the 200m Backstroke finished 13th in the Semi Finals. The 200m is not Sophie’s preferred distance however she recorded a personal best by over one second. A great performance in trying conditions. Kyle Richardson in his first major International in the 50m Freestyle recorded a time of 22.21 being a personal best by 0.3 of a second a superb performance.
With two days of the Championships remaining tomorrow we will see the Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay take to the water with our Gold Medalist Jessicah Schipper in action.

Sensationally, Jessicah Schipper won the 200m Butterfly World Championship and also broke the World Record. Jess swam a beautifully timed race taking the lead on the final lap. The very next race was the Semi Final of the Men’s 200m Breaststroke, amazingly Christian Sprenger broke the World Record and qualified fastest for tomorrow’s final. Commercial Swimmers must like Rome as the last World Championships held in Rome in 1994, Kieren Perkins and Samantha Riley did summarily winning World Championships and breaking World Records within the same hour. Congratulations Jess and Christian and also coach Stephan Widmer on an astonishing result.

swimmers and parents. Commercial broke two pool records in the Open

their first meet and they all performed extremely well. Whilst a number
of experienced swimmers achieved PB’s. Due to insufficient members in
certain age groups, a number of swimmers had to compete in higher age
events and achieved fantastic results. Well done team!!!

Swimmers Tom Evans, Charlotte Casey, Aimee Murray, Ellie Plasto and Coach Trent Patten have just returned from representing the Commercial Swim Club at the New Zealand Spring Short Course Championships.
The trip was planned to give swimmers a goal while training through the tough winter months at the Valley Pool. It gave the swimmers an opportunity to develop their self management skills and test their fitness and skills against New Zealand's finest.
The trip was a resounding success with the team chalking up 19 personal bests from 31 swims. Tom, Ellie and Aimee all qualified for individual finals while Charlotte joined Ellie, Aimee and Albany Creeks Caitlin Smith in the final of the girls 16 & over medley relay.
The swimmers are now back in training for the Queensland Championships to be held at the Chandler Aquatic Centre from the 13th-19th of December.
Brisbane City Council adjusts the parking meter times on East Street. New time signed 9-4pm. This represents a change from the 8-5pm and the original 7-7pm timeslots that impacted all of our squads. A petition signed by over 200 members of CSC and successful lobbying on our behalf by David Hinchliffe to Brisbane Transport has now resulted in a time period where CSC swimmers will not be required to pay for parking.
